We progress through life by acquiring layers of experience - building our own internal consciousness, our own rich patina.

But what does that look like? I've always been obsessed by how people see and experience life differently. How life molds and shapes us all - ourselves, our children, our families, our friends. What is the texture of expectation? How muted is the color of judgment? What shape is our joy, our pain?

I see life as fragments: events, memories, emotions - each one influencing the next, layering into the tapestry of our stories. Foremost Fragments (2021) brings fifteen of those stories to you. Bespoke textile works exploring the chaos and emotional intricacies of being human - the fragments that make us vulnerable, amazing, and connected.

FORM + STRUCTURE

Created over twelve months of deep material exploration. Each piece uses reclaimed textiles - remnants, vintage fabrics, fragments with their own histories - layered and composed through hand-stitching. acrylic paint, natural earth pigments, handmade inks and considered color layering build depth and texture: acrylic paint seal each set of memory in formation. Stitched edges frame each composition. The process is slow, intuitive - letting each fragment find its place in conversation with the others.
