ABOUT

Foremost Fragments (2021) is a small debut collection of 12 bespoke tapestry art works: a twelve month exploration in re-cycled textiles. The collection fuses together fundamental elements of my practice (composition, form, texture, layering, stitch and colour), and marks a new era in my creative career.

Representing life and memory as a series of fragments - each fragment influenced by and influencing the next: creating layers - a tapestry - of Stories.

Presented are 12 visual stories exploring the emotional intricacies and stories of our journeys as humans. My stories, your stories, our stories. They are all here.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I have always been captivated by the ways in which people experience and perceive life, and how it might differ from my own. We progress through life acquiring a rich patina of individualised experience + consciousness.

But what does this consciousness look like? What is the texture of expectation? How muted is the colour of judgment and fear? And what shape is our joy or our pain?

Foremost Fragments (2021) intends to visualise mental narratives: a form of storytelling that I believe we can all relate to - A place to celebrate the beautiful and the broken.
