THE WORKSComposition and Form
Layers of geometric formations, overlap combine and shadow
one-another. A tale of moments and memories of home.
Quiet, abstract geometric forms created by the overlap and underlapping of textile layers, creating complex inter-woven narratives. Stitch, embossing and a gentle 3D relief forms further accentuate composition. A combination of clean pressed edges and raw stitched details add a quiet complexity - insinuating building blocks of moments and memories.
The result, a deeply structured and 3Dimensional essence on deep edged canvas. Both works separate and yet connected; much like we all are.
THE DETAILSColour
An introspective exploration of light natural tones, curated and crafted using natural pigments, paints and dyes.
Layers of raw natural ink washes in light to mid natural hues create clean and nuanced shades whilst celebrating the pure and raw texture of the canvas’. Aesthetic pairing to St Leo Wall Colour Antwerp Grote.

Its all in the detail: Crafted meaningful detailing.
A combination of light and dark stitch in fine and minimal cotton thread present across the works connecting each work structurally and metaphorically.
Clean pressed edges and raw wool intersection detailing add quiet complexity.

Created holistically using only high quality, natural materials from sustainable sources, each artwork builds upon the Nikki Heaton Studio values to create a calm and vitalising experience.
Each artwork promotes re-cycled, OEKO-TEX textiles, small-batch inks, and FSC certified hardwood; all placing high values on good design, detail, craftsmanship, layering and materiality.
